Fertility Visits

Cows to present at dairy fertility visits

This is based on a voluntary waiting period of 50 days (the time from calving to the first allowed insemination). All the parameters can be changed depending on herd circumstances.

Cows to submit for vet fertility visit
Monthly visit (all packages)

  • Post natal check for cows with disease problem around calving (e.g. calving difficulty, twins, retained afterbirth, metritis, milk fever: From 21 days post calving (21 - 52d)
  • Oestrus not observed: From 60 days post calving (60 - 91d)
  • Not served: From 70 days post calving (70 - 101d)
  • Pregnancy diagnosis (pd): From 28 days post service (28 - 59d)
  • Others: Abnormal vaginal discharge, showing signs of oestrus at less than 18 days intervals, pd'd in calf ad returned to oestrus

Cows to body condition score at vet fertility visit
Monthly Visit (Package 2)

  • 0 - 31 days before dry-off
  • 14 days pre-calving; 5 days post-calving
  • 60 - 80 days in milk

Cows for mini-metabolic profile
Monthly Visit (Package 3)

  • 1 - 14 days pre-calving: 6 cows
  • 1 - 21 days in milk: 6 cows
